moved back to New York, loving it. I keep ending up at this park on the lower eastside. There is always something interesting going on, something weird and original. I dont really have any friends, so my life consist of wandering around getting into random encounters. There is a lower area and a higher area to the park, the lower having a circular ampatheatre type area, and the top being more general park. I leave my computer on the lower area to go check out the top. It was only 2 mins but someone is already holding it, checking it out tryn to come up. There is this depressed middle aged man who I have befriended, but I dont really know why. Walking takes to long and isnt very much fun, so most of the time i am swinging and flipping, doing cartweels and climbing places to get around.
At the top of the ledge that separates the lower and upper parts of the park I find a theatre troop performing for themselves and join in. They are a little off, not with there timing, just how original and weird they are. Everything is on the verge of being creepy, or off kilter, really strange, but interesting. Doing handstands and rolling around on the ground, making up dance moves and bending my body into awkward shapes, I fit in just fine, and dont even ask just blend right into there performance. The Ground has intricate pattern of red and white, slightly resembling what would be in an airport, that keeps moving up and down in the shape of people. I can tell there are either people under it or they have some kind of clocking camoflauge that allows them to move and be the same pattern, so I get on top of one and hold a handstand type stall as it moves up and down, balancing on the person underneath. The whole troop is impressed and them and the small crowd that has formed applauds. I love NY I think to myself, no other place has such innovative stuff and people doing amazing new things all the time.
That was fun but Im ready to move on, there is alot of city to explore. I dont walk places but rather spend my time climbing up storm drains, jumping from buildings and swinging from branches of trees, barley ever touching the ground. Its sooooo much fun!!! I feel like an urban ninja monkey. Pretty soon one of my friends, or someone i meet, not really sure, decides to join me.
Eventually I make it back to the park , thinking to myself, the reason I always come back to the park is that it is the lowest point and so when im swinging from building i always go down hill. In the park Everything is weird, which is normal. Its like a dark twisted cartoon where nothing is quite right, but you like watching anyway just cause it makes you feel different. I find my friend, the older depressed man watching tv in the middle of the ampatheatre lower area, laughing and smiling. Why are you so happy? i inquire. The he says he hired some hookers and was feeling good. Sitting watching with him are two really young boys and one older one. One of the younger ones try's to touch my arm, which i immediately push off realizing that these little boys are the hookers he was talking about, which grosses me out to the point that I make an exit pronto.
The last thing I remember was being chased by some big dude, who was way to slow and big to catch an urban ninja, and i was enjoying making a fool out of him trying.
