it begins with a time tunnel.. a portal through time. i am at an outdoor event of some kind, looking across an expanse of green, into a large tent some few hundred yards away. my artwork is hanging inside the tent, and i realize my past self is also inside. i see her and immediately know that the year she exists in is 2009. we lock eyes for a moment and smile, and it's not at all strange to be meeting my past self. i realize the illusion of time is collapsing and i feel a great sense of joy and relief.
my dad is sitting somewhere between the tent and my dreamself, beaming this huge smile at me of pride and elation, and waving. i smile back.
next scene is at my grandmother's house. it's packed full of people and my mom is having some kind of strange regression. she's behaving like a small child. she's trying to hand me a handful of chocolate ice cream, which is rapidly melting. i don't take it, because something distracts me. all the people are looking out the windows at something i can't see. i hear that there's a major meteor shower or comet approaching and the first sighting has been observed. people begin to panic and gather their things, fleeing the house. i spot something on fire on the floor.. it's delvin's brown hoodie with honeycomb hex geometries all over it. i look around for delvin and spot him levitating a few feet off the floor, looking like he's heading for the open window. i put his hoodie on. i find david and we start to leave with everyone else.
the house turns into a large public building as people scramble to get out. they're abandoning everything. i'm the last one to leave and there is a small toddler, a boy of about a year, standing by himself with a pacifier in his mouth, whimpering, but not crying. i realize he's been abandoned, and feeling incredulous, not knowing what else to do, i pick him up and take him with me. on my way out, i find yet another abandoned baby, just a bit younger, so i grab him(?) too. my arms are feeling weak and my strength is giving out a bit as i struggle with bags and a baby in each arm. i wonder what the hell i was thinking taking these kids with me... but i couldn't just leave them there to fend for themselves, could i??
i'm in the car with my mom, we're picking up my sister lisa. david feels present, but i can't see him in the car. he might be driving, but i can't see him. i'm not driving and neither is my mom. when we pick up lisa, she gets in the driver's seat and starts to drive like a madwoman, and i'm really glad she's driving. i'm still holding the 2 babies, and trying to go through a checklist of emergency supplies with my mom (sleeping bags, water, flashlights, etc.) but she's totally regressed now to the mental level of a two year old and is impossible to communicate with. we drive past an old folks home, where there is a long line of cars in a traffic jam, including funeral hearses. i realize people are going to say goodbye to their elderly parents, or to pick them up, and this touches me.
i suddenly see through the front windshield a huge streak of orange and purple light across the sky. it's the first one i've actually seen myself. i'm in awe. then a huge shower of more fiery comets or huge meteors starts to fall.. i realize this is way bigger than i thought it was going to be. suddenly, a plasma burst of electrical energy streaks across the sky from the horizon, arcing high above our heads. it's bright green with red and purple bursts inside it. the plasma discharge turns into a giant electrical bolt of lightening, then starts to spiral and becomes a DNA coil in the sky, glowing green, red and purple. it's massive.. wider than many city blocks and stretching across the whole sky.
i'm tracking my thoughts as my mind tries to attach some kind of meaning or significance to the electrical formation which looks like a DNA coil. is it aliens? what does it mean?
fire is streaking through the sky.. i'm completely terrified, but also in absolute awe of the sheer magnificence of what i'm witnessing. i laugh, realizing there is nowhere to flee to... we can't all run off the surface of the planet. i resolve to witness the beauty and magnitude of the event, no matter what happens.
